Artistic Director
Dr Tim Coker
Tim Coker is a theatre-maker, composer, sound designer and teacher. Tim trained at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and holds degrees from the universities of Manchester, Royal Holloway University of London and Reading. His PhD focuses on the relationship between contemporary music, experimental theatre and the modern audience. Tim has directed and written new work for a range of artists, ensembles and venues including Traverse Theatre, Pleasance Theatre, Wycombe Swan, Anvil Basingstoke and C Venues Edinburgh and his music and theatre work has been performed at festivals and in concert halls across Europe by some of the world’s leading ensembles. Theatre Manager
Amie Johnson
Amie joined Macready Theatre in November 2022 as Theatre Manager, after managing arts organisation programmes, directing Youth Theatre groups and teaching Drama in Oxfordshire. Amie achieved her Performing Arts Honours Degree in 2011 and later trained with Oxford Brookes to succeed a PGCE. Amie has written and directed theatre, fronted an acoustic band and started up her own creative stationery business, which ran for 3 years. Amie’s vision is to grow Macready Theatre’s audience, outreach to many communities across Warwickshire, collaborate with local businesses and other theatres, and bring vibrant culture and social events to Rugby.
Theatre Technicians
Kyle Arrowsmith
Kyle joined the Macready Theatre in November 2016 and after a brief sojourn post-lockdowns, returned to the team in a greater capacity in December 2023. He brought a year’s experience as an Arts Centre Manager at Ellesmere College and primarily learnt his trade volunteering at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, owned by Aberystwyth University where he achieved a 2:1 BA Hons in Drama and Theatre Studies in 2013. Kyle has devised his own work, as sound designer and operator performed 2 short national tours, and regularly attends the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a show producer and technician. Kyle’s vision of the Macready Theatre is it’s steady growth to be a regional theatre that people travel from far and wide to attend it’s programme.

Millie Smedley
Millie joined the Macready team in August following her graduation from Birmingham City University where she studied English and Drama. She has worked at multiple venues throughout the West Midlands as a freelance technician. She has experience in directing and producing theatre shows, with multiple musicals under her belt. She has a wide experience in facilitating and leading drama workshops, helping to teach at multiple schools in Coventry.
